{"id":24972,"date":"2017-01-13T09:02:17","date_gmt":"2017-01-13T17:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/fairbanks-interior-alaska-prepare-for-annual-cold-snap\/"},"modified":"2017-01-13T09:02:17","modified_gmt":"2017-01-13T17:02:17","slug":"fairbanks-interior-alaska-prepare-for-annual-cold-snap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/fairbanks-interior-alaska-prepare-for-annual-cold-snap\/","title":{"rendered":"Fairbanks, interior Alaska prepare for annual cold snap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ANCHORAGE \u2014<\/strong> The National Weather Service is warning interior Alaska to brace for a drop in temperatures next week.<\/p>\n<p>Fairbanks most years sees temperatures of 40 below zero or colder and the weather service said those temperatures could arrive Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The agency in a special weather statement said temperatures through Friday in the region north of the Alaska Range will cool and feature lows around 30 below.<\/p>\n<p>Weekend lows are expected to rise to 20 below zero before colder air from the Arctic surges south.<\/p>\n<p>Temperatures are forecast to fall into the minus 40 to minus 50 range in the upper Yukon Flats.<\/p>\n<p>Daily high temperatures are not predicted to be much warmer.<\/p>\n<p>The degree of cold will depend on skies.
