Paramedics also gave Balko a breathing treatment and used a defibrillator.<\/p>\n<p>Balko was taken to the hospital and officials suspended the meet until Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Students observed a moment of silence after Balko\u2019s death was announced.<\/p>\n<p>Monroe\u2019s high school track and field coach Chad Comeau said he\u2019s heard of kids falling down at the finish line, but that it hits home when it\u2019s one of your own.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAIRBANKS \u2014 A high school freshman has died after collapsing at his region\u2019s track and field championships.
