The Juneau-Douglas High School hockey team scored a season-high six goals Friday at Treadwell Arena in a 6-1 win over the North Pole Patriots.<\/p>\n
The win marked the first time this season the Crimson Bears (4-10, 2-3 MAC) have won back-to-back games. JDHS defeated Lathrop the week before in Fairbanks, 4-0.<\/p>\n
The team will try to make it three straight on Saturday night in their last home game of the season against the same opponent.<\/p>\n
The Crimson Bears received all of its goals from juniors — Cully Corrigan scored three, Dalton Hoy scored two and Greyson Liebelt scored one.<\/p>\n
Junior Erik Genitz tallied three assists while Tyler Weldon and Ronan Lynch also contributed helpers.<\/p>\n
JDHS goaltender Cody Mitchell saved nine shots in the win; North Pole goaltender Moses Halbert saved 24 shots.<\/p>\n
Halbert saved an impressive 17 of 18 shots in the first period as only Hoy scored for the Crimson Bears.<\/p>\n
JDHS had much better success against Halbert in the second period though. Corrigan scored two goals in the first five minutes to put JDHS up 3-0. Liebelt added another goal at 11:16 in the second.<\/p>\n
Traivin Siebels scored at 8:41 of the third from Jesse Keith and Kole Kuykendall to provide some consolation for the Patriots, who still trailed 4-1.<\/p>\n
Corrigan scored his third goal at 9:40 of the third.<\/p>\n
North Pole and JDHS went 0-5 and 0-4 on the power play, respectively.<\/p>\n
