{"id":26277,"date":"2015-11-19T09:05:05","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T17:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/former-nfl-qb-doug-flutie-says-both-parents-die-in-same-hour\/"},"modified":"2015-11-19T09:05:05","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T17:05:05","slug":"former-nfl-qb-doug-flutie-says-both-parents-die-in-same-hour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/former-nfl-qb-doug-flutie-says-both-parents-die-in-same-hour\/","title":{"rendered":"Former NFL QB Doug Flutie says both parents die in same hour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BOSTON<\/strong> \u2014 Former NFL quarterback Doug Flutie says both of his parents died within an hour of each other.<\/p>\n<p>Flutie said Wednesday on his Facebook page that father Dick died of a heart attack in a Florida hospital and that mother Joan also suffered a heart attack and died less than an hour later.<\/p>\n<p>Flutie wrote: \u201cThey say you can die of a broken heart and I believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flutie did not elaborate on the circumstances of their deaths, but called them \u201cincredible parents and grandparents\u201d who had been married for 56 years and were always there for their children.<\/p>\n<p>The 1984 Heisman Trophy winner at Boston College, Flutie played 13 seasons in the NFL with Chicago, New England, Buffalo and San Diego.
