]A community potluck and fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 5-8 p.m. at St. Ann\u2019s Parish Hall for Lisle Herbert\u2019s \u201cYuuyaraq \u2013 The Way of the Human Being,\u201d a film about the impacts of Western civilization on the Yupik people of Alaska.<\/p>\n
Herbert has created an Indiegogo.com campaign with the goal of $10,000 for the film.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no project of this type that does not need additional funding,\u201d Peter Metcalfe, one of the event organizers, said in a statement. \u201cThis movie is Lisle\u2019s passion, one that entered the \u2018labor of love\u2019 category weeks ago. It just seems like the right thing to do at this time of year to help him complete the movie. I know the fine people of Juneau will lean forward and contribute.\u201d<\/p>\n
The potluck has no admission fee. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and help fundraise for the film. There will be a silent auction and music performed by Steve Nelson. Herbert will give a brief talk and show some rough cuts of the film.<\/p>\n
