{"id":26887,"date":"2015-09-28T08:03:05","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T15:03:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/19-years-after-teen-vanished-family-is-still-searching\/"},"modified":"2015-09-28T08:03:05","modified_gmt":"2015-09-28T15:03:05","slug":"19-years-after-teen-vanished-family-is-still-searching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/19-years-after-teen-vanished-family-is-still-searching\/","title":{"rendered":"19 years after teen vanished, family is still searching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ANCHORAGE \u2014<\/strong> It\u2019s been nearly two decades since a 17-year-old Bethel girl vanished, and her family is still looking for answers.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday marked the 19th anniversary of Stella Evon\u2019s disappearance and family members said they are renewing an effort to find out what happened to her, reported KTUU-TV.<\/p>\n<p>Evon was returning from a friend\u2019s house in the early morning of Sept. 26, 1996, and wasn\u2019t able to get inside her home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey lived right across from the police station, so she went over to the police station for some help,\u201d said Evon\u2019s cousin, Juliet Stonecipher. \u201cThey tried going over and assisting her and trying to get her grandmother to open the door, but they had no luck so they brought her to her older sister\u2019s house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Evon left her sister\u2019s house between 5 and 6 a.m. and was never seen again.<\/p>\n<p>The family is currently offering a $5,000 reward fund for information about Evon, but Stonecipher told KTUU-TV that they are trying to raise money so they can increase that amount.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody out there knows something about her disappearance,\u201d said Stonecipher. \u201cThis is somebody\u2019s daughter, somebody\u2019s sister, somebody\u2019s cousin, somebody\u2019s auntie, friend, we need justice for Stella and closure for her family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stonecipher said people still reach out to her on Facebook to talk about good times spent with Evon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStella was a very fun person, she was always laughing, she would always find something to laugh about, she was very outgoing,\u201d Stonecipher said. \u201cShe\u2019s very kind, she loved everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 It\u2019s been nearly two decades since a 17-year-old Bethel girl vanished, and her family is still looking for answers.
