{"id":26901,"date":"2017-04-21T16:14:31","date_gmt":"2017-04-21T23:14:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/airport-drug-bust-uncovers-meth\/"},"modified":"2017-04-21T16:14:31","modified_gmt":"2017-04-21T23:14:31","slug":"airport-drug-bust-uncovers-meth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/airport-drug-bust-uncovers-meth\/","title":{"rendered":"Airport drug bust uncovers meth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man who allegedly brought methamphetamine on a commercial flight to sell in Juneau was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury for second-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, a class B felony.<\/p>\n<p>Brian O\u2019Neil Yambao Arce, 38, was stopped at the Juneau International Airport coming off a flight from Seattle on April 14, according to a criminal complaint. Juneau Police Department Detective Carl Lundquist wrote in the complaint that <a href=\"http:\/\/juneauempire.com\/local\/2015-07-08\/meet-buddy-jpds-new-drug-detection-dog-arrives\" target=\"_blank\">JPD\u2019s K-9 Buddy<\/a> alerted on Arce\u2019s bag and a subsequent search revealed 216 grams of a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for meth.<\/p>\n<p>Lundquist wrote that 216 grams of meth is far beyond a personal-use quantity. Because Arce said he does not live in Juneau and was visiting friends, the detective believed he was here to deliver and\/or distribute drugs.<\/p>\n<p>Arce was set for arraignment in Juneau Superior Court.<\/p>\n<p>Other indictments issued were:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A 25-year-old man was indicted for third-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly cut his girlfriend\u2019s clothes and smashed her cellphone, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A 46-year-old man was indicted for second-degree and third-degree assault, for reportedly choking his girlfriend and throwing her into a counter.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A 31-year-old man was indicted for first-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly broke into a family member\u2019s residence, breaking a window, ransacking the house, and punching the ignition of a sports car.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 Contact reporter Liz Kellar at 523-2246 or liz.kellar@juneauempire.com.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man who allegedly brought methamphetamine on a commercial flight to sell in Juneau was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury for second-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, a class B felony.
