{"id":27322,"date":"2016-05-04T08:01:49","date_gmt":"2016-05-04T15:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/get-25-to-pay-for-your-whale-pinger\/"},"modified":"2016-05-04T08:01:49","modified_gmt":"2016-05-04T15:01:49","slug":"get-25-to-pay-for-your-whale-pinger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/life\/get-25-to-pay-for-your-whale-pinger\/","title":{"rendered":"Get $25 to pay for your whale pinger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Southeast Alaska Fishermen\u2019s Alliance (SEAFA) would like to announce that the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation has awarded us a Hollings Grant to reduce whale entanglements in Alaska salmon fisheries by increasing the use of acoustic whale pingers to minimize entanglements in fishing gear.<\/p>\n<p>SEAFA under this grant will rebate $25 per whale pinger purchased after May 1, 2016 for up to five pingers per Alaska salmon permit\/vessel. Rebates requests must include the original sales receipt and the rebate form available on our website or at your local reseller. Signing the rebate form means that you agree for your contact information to be stored and if asked to answer questions about your pinger use by scientists. Rebates will be issued on a first come basis until all funds are used.<\/p>\n<p>Whale pingers emit a sound to alert baleen whales that there is something in front of them.
