Bill Walker declaring a disaster in one place because of river erosion threatening to flood an area near homes.<\/p>\n<p>Walker issued a verbal disaster declaration Monday for a 3-mile stretch of the Matanuska River north of Anchorage. The disaster declaration, which triggers state assistance, followed a disaster declaration from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough that cites riverbank erosion and high waters.<\/p>\n<p>South of Anchorage, a flood advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday in Seward.
