On December 18, 1986, Alaska Airlines reviled the ground fog Juneau has received reliably during the holiday season. The fog, district manager for Alaska Airlines said, has always stopped planes from leaving or entering Juneau during the wintertime, breaking holiday travel plans for Juneau families. Since the airport sits near the glacier, a creek and a salt-water channel, the fog was unavoidable, but it did not stop Juneau locals from being disappointed.<\/p>\n
In good news, the Juneau Economic Development Council that was developed months ago by the City and Borough of Juneau set a mission statement and general goals at the last meeting. The council even planned to continue for another year with the $169,000 in funding they received from the Juneau Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n
In the Mendenhall valley area, another fire struck a Juneau home. However, the cause of the fire was unknown and waiting to be discovered.<\/p>\n
