{"id":2823,"date":"2016-03-04T09:05:34","date_gmt":"2016-03-04T17:05:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/1a-tourney-thorne-bay-lives-to-play-another-day\/"},"modified":"2016-03-04T09:05:34","modified_gmt":"2016-03-04T17:05:34","slug":"1a-tourney-thorne-bay-lives-to-play-another-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/1a-tourney-thorne-bay-lives-to-play-another-day\/","title":{"rendered":"1A Tourney: Thorne Bay lives to play another day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Thorne Bay boys basketball team defeated Gustavus on Wednesday, 31-30, to continue on in the losers\u2019 bracket of the Region V 1A Basketball Tournament held at Thunder Mountain High School.<\/p>\n<p>Thorne Bay took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter, and stretched that lead to 19-15 at halftime.<\/p>\n<p>Gustavus battled back to tie the game at 25-25 at the end of the third, and Thorne Bay proved to be one point better in the final quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Thorne Bay junior Dominic Stephens-Wilson led his team with 10 points, followed by eighth grader Owen Chadwick with seven and junior Brayden Schwab with six.<\/p>\n<p>Gustavus was led in scoring by senior Jonah Patrick\u2019s game-high 20 points. Eighth grader Jacob Patrick scored 10.<\/p>\n<p>Thorne Bay will next pay the loser of the Hydaburg\/Kake game at 4:30 p.m. today.
