Each week throughout the summer, the Juneau Public Libraries, in collaboration with the Friends of the Juneau Public Libraries and local businesses, award young readers various prizes for writing book reviews about their favorite summer reads. During the fourth week of this Summer Reading Program activity, the Juneau Public Libraries received 63 different book reviews from 35 different young readers under the age of 18. Here is a summary of the top book reviews from this week\u2019s winners:<\/p>\n
From the downtown library:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Catcher in the Rye\u201d by J.D. Salinger: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is when Holden snuck back into his house to meet his little sister after dropping out of school .\u201d \u2014 Meghna Bathija, age 17.<\/p>\n
\u201cI Broke My Trunk\u201d by Mo Willems: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is when Gerald says he also wanted to play the piano.\u201d\u2014 Anderson Murray, age 6.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere the Sidewalk Ends\u201d by Shel Silverstein: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is that this book has many poems. I really like poems. My favorite one is one called \u2018Invitation\u2019 at the beginning.\u201d\u2014 Cagney Davis, age 9.<\/p>\n
\u201cArt & Max\u201d by David Wiesner: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is that Art gets covered in paint by Max. He then explodes all the paint off. He loves this part. Really the whole book. We are going to buy this book. Super awesome.\u201d\u2014 Luke Glasow, age 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Village\u201d by G. Brian Karas: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is it has cool trucks and I want to ride one sometime\u201d \u2014 Johnny Aranda-Jackson, age 6<\/p>\n
\u201cBo at Ballard Creek\u201d by Kirkpatrick Hill: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is that it kind of tells how an Alaskan life goes. It\u2019s a good book.\u201d \u2014 Jossline Aranda-Jackson, age 11<\/p>\n

\u201cBlueberry Shoe\u201d Ann Dixon and Evon Zerbetz: \u201cI liked it because they went berry picking in the summer and I go berry picking too.\u201d \u2014 Angelina Aranda-Jackson, age 4<\/p>\n

\u201cRuby Lu, Empress of Everything\u201d by Lenore Look: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is when Oscar puts magnets up his nose.\u201d \u2014 Jack Lovejoy, age 10.<\/p>\n
\u201cSnow Treasure\u201d by Marie McSwigan: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is that a 12 year old Norwegian boy named Peter uses his love of sledding to save Norway which is at war with Germany.\u201d \u2014 Addy Lanz, age 8.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Birthday Cake\u201d by Sven Nordquist: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is when they finally make the cake and when the bull charged the cat.\u201d \u2014 Ayla Erickson, age 6.<\/p>\n
