Family members are continuing the search for a loved one\u2019s pet after two people were found dead Saturday.<\/p>\n
Sundown Arasmith, 40, and Arnold Jongsma, 60, left Lena Point Friday for a trip the two friends regularly took together toward Shelter Island, according to Sundown\u2019s cousin Jessica Arasmith.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re assuming when they came out at the point on Lena Cove, the waves probably just stomped them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Alaska State Troopers discovered Arasmith\u2019s body at 11:45 a.m. Saturday on Admiralty Island beach. As troopers investigated that scene, they received reports that Jongsma\u2019s body washed up on north beach of Horse Island, 12 miles east of Juneau, according to an online dispatch from troopers.<\/p>\n
A trooper dispatch states that Arasmith\u2019s and Jongsma\u2019s bodies were sent to the state Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Anchorage. No foul play is suspected.<\/p>\n
Jessica Arasmith told the Empire Monday the two men shared a double sea kayak that they kept out on Lena Point and shared with other people as well.<\/p>\n
Arasmith said the family is pulling together following the terrible event and is focusing on recovering a lost pet, Mason, which belonged to Sundown.<\/p>\n
Mason is a 2-year-old mixed dog with brown and white fur. Arasmith said he will likely be seen wearing a blue collar attached to a green climbing rope leash.<\/p>\n
Arasmith said the kayak is still missing and the family would also like to find the bags attached to it that contain personal items. The double sea kayak is painted yellow on the top and white on the bottom.<\/p>\n
