We\u2019d like to give a big Alaska Cajun thank you to everyone who helped with the recent \u201cBoogie for Da Bayou\u201d fundraiser for Louisiana flood relief. All told, 200 people came out to have a good time for a good cause. Together, we raised more than $7,500 for the Baton Rouge Area Foundation\u2019s Louisiana Flood Relief Fund, which is coordinating local efforts to provide flood relief where it\u2019s most needed.<\/p>\n
In particular, we\u2019d like to thank our event sponsors, which included the Alaskan Brewing Company, Alaska Glacier Seafoods, Beth Weldon, Coppa, Cox Environmental, Hooked Alaska Seafood Company, KXLL Excellent Radio, Pearl of Alaska Oysters, Taku River Reds and Taku Fisheries. These sponsors donated cash, beverages, advertising or seafood so that funds from ticket sales could go toward flood relief efforts. We\u2019d also like to thank Alaska Litho, Juneau Food Tours, Marms & Meeks, Fred Meyer, Foodland IGA, Safeway, Panhandle Provisions and Salt Restaurant for their support.<\/p>\n
This event was a huge group effort and we\u2019d like to thank all the volunteer decorators, cooks, dessert bakers, bartenders, ticket sellers, food servers and cleanup crew that pitched in for the event. Local bands, the North Country Cajun Club and Gamble and the High Costa Living really kicked the party into high gear with their foot-stomping music, which everyone enjoyed.<\/p>\n
Lastly, we\u2019d like to thank the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council for being the event\u2019s fiscal sponsor. It\u2019s wonderful that our local arts organization was able to help us celebrate Louisiana culture and assist flood victims through this fun event.
