The snow has begun to fall in Juneau, which means it’s time for SNOvember at the Gold Town Nickelodeon.

This Friday, the annual film festival kicks into high gear with Throw Back Night, featuring a double-feature of ski movies starting at 9 p.m. The event will also feature a ’90s costume contest, offering prizes of $100 and $50 for first and second place.

The event is open to those 21 and over, and tickets are $10 at the door. All of the proceeds go to the Eaglecrest Foundation, as part of the annual SNOvember event to raise money for the foundation and its aim to build a cabin near Cropley Lake. The theater will be showing “The Continuum,” a 1996 film filmed partially in Alaska that gained international acclaim. It will also be showing a film that contains highlights of Standard Films snowboarding movies, released in 2001.
