Meanwhile, Gov. Bill Sheffield and Steve Cowper met and discussed Alaska issues such as the Red Dog mine, subsistence, the Permanent Fund and the economy. Cowper had won the Democratic primary for governor a little over a week before, and the two rivals appeared to be working together to weed out hot-topic state issues before the gubernatorial election begins.<\/p>\n
