{"id":2913,"date":"2016-11-13T09:02:27","date_gmt":"2016-11-13T17:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/teen-dies-in-highway-crash-when-car-strikes-parked-pickup\/"},"modified":"2016-11-13T09:02:27","modified_gmt":"2016-11-13T17:02:27","slug":"teen-dies-in-highway-crash-when-car-strikes-parked-pickup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/teen-dies-in-highway-crash-when-car-strikes-parked-pickup\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen dies in highway crash when car strikes parked pickup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FAIRBANKS \u2014 A North Pole teenager died Thursday night when his car slammed into a pickup parked along the Richardson Highway.<\/p>\n<p>The crash killed 18-year-old Conner Wilhelm.<\/p>\n<p>Fairbanks police shortly after 8:30 p.m. responded to a three-car crash on the highway just north of an entrance to Fort Wainwright, where a southbound vehicle struck two parked vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Family members of the driver showed up and parked a pickup off the northbound lane.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Wilhelm, driving north, spun out of control and struck the pickup.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer on scene rushed across the highway and found Wilhelm unresponsive. Wilhelm was pronounced dead at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>A passenger in his car suffered a leg injury and was treated and released.<\/p>\n<p>Police said icy conditions were a major factor in the crash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAIRBANKS \u2014 A North Pole teenager died Thursday night when his car slammed into a pickup parked along the Richardson Highway.
