Philip Wall struck out nine batters in five innings and Juneau Post 25 shutout East Post 34 by a score of 11-0 on Saturday afternoon at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Field.

Wall’s strong pitching — he allowed just three hits — received plenty of run support behind multiple-hit outings by Zeb Storie, Michael Cesar, Kasey Watts and Bobby Cox.

After only having one run to show for the first two innings, Owen Mendoza’s two-RBI double contributed to a four-run third inning.

Juneau’s bats spelled more trouble for East in the fourth inning. The home team loaded the bases with no outs and later drove in four runs with two outs.

Riley Griffin and Cesar ballooned the lead to 11-0 in the fifth inning, and the game was called in the bottom of the inning as Wall picked up strikeouts No. 8 and 9.

Juneau secured another five-inning win over East earlier in the afternoon, this time by a count of 12-2.

Donavin McCurley threw five innings — all that was needed to knock off the Thunderbirds — striking out seven batters while giving up two hits.

East’s Charlie White tossed 4 1/3 innings and allowed seven hits and five earned runs.

Storie went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead Juneau, who jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings. McCurley, Cesar, Watts, Mendoza, Logan Lesmann and Brandon Keeler all posted hits in the win.

Juneau is now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in league play. East drops to 1-7 and 1-6 in league play.

Juneau Post 25 plays two more games against East at noon and 3 p.m. Sunday. The team then heads north for six games in four days starting on Monday, June 25.
