Each week throughout the summer, the Juneau Public Libraries, in collaboration with the Friends of the Juneau Public Libraries and local businesses, award young readers various prizes for writing book reviews about their favorite summer reads. During its fifth week, the Juneau Public Libraries received 31 different book reviews from 17 different young readers under the age of 18. Here is a summary of the top book reviews from this week\u2019s winners:<\/p>\n

From the Downtown Library:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Case of the Missing Moonstone\u201d by Jordan Stratford: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is how the girls manage to track down the thief\u201d \u2014 Melia Lu Trousil, age 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hobbit\u201d by J.R.R Tolkien: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is when Bilbo finds his companions caught in spider webs. But these are no ordinary spiders, these are MONSTER SPIDERS!!\u201d\u2014 Clara Ferguson, age 8, almost 9.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiva and Flea\u201d by Mo Wilems: \u201cI laughed when Diva yelled Feet!\u201d\u2014 Emilia Shelton-Walker, age 8.<\/p>\n

From the Douglas Library:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere the Mountain Meets the Moon\u201d by Grace Lin: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is it\u2019s a good book because of how big of an adventure you get to go on.\u201d \u2014 Jossline Aranda-Jackson, age 11<\/p>\n

\u201cNo Zombies Allowed\u201d by Matt Novak: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is that sea monsters were putting slime in the house so they couldn\u2019t be invited to the party.\u201d \u2014 Ireland Higgins, age 7<\/p>\n

From the Mendenhall Valley Library:<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you Ready to Play\u201d by Mo Willems: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is that it was raining outside and Gerald put his ear out over Piggie.\u201d \u2014 Janelle McElwain, age 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Condor\u201d by Lisa Westberg Peters: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is how big they are! Their Wing span is 9 feet to 10.\u201d \u2014 Kaitlyn Kuendig, age 9.<\/p>\n

\u201cEight Keys\u201d by Suzanne LaFleur: \u201cI like how Elise\u2019s Dad had to plan so far ahead to leave notes and clues for Elise.\u201d \u2014 Raiya McCutcheon, age 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Almost Terrible Play Date\u201d by Richard Torrey: \u201cOne fascinating part of this book is all of the illustrations were hand-drawn.\u201d\u2014 Josie McElwain, age 11.<\/p>\n
