{"id":30664,"date":"2017-01-03T09:02:01","date_gmt":"2017-01-03T17:02:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/bethel-hires-new-city-manager\/"},"modified":"2017-01-03T09:02:01","modified_gmt":"2017-01-03T17:02:01","slug":"bethel-hires-new-city-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/bethel-hires-new-city-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Bethel hires new city manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHEL \u2014 Bethel\u2019s acting city manager will officially take over the job Jan. 2.<\/p>\n<p>KYUK-AM reported Pete Williams accepted the position during a recent meeting.<\/p>\n<p>He will permanently replace Ann Capela, who cut her contract a year short.<\/p>\n<p>Williams started filling in for Capela in September.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Rick Robb said Williams has been asking the right questions, holding department heads accountable, and finding solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Williams has spent the last six years as the city\u2019s port director and filled in as city manager when needed.<\/p>\n<p>He will hire a new port director.<\/p>\n<p>Council members approved Williams\u2019 decision to hire Jim Chevigny as finance director.<\/p>\n<p>Chevigny starts in late January.<\/p>\n<p>Williams also hired a new public works director.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BETHEL \u2014 Bethel\u2019s acting city manager will officially take over the job Jan. 2.
