Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska has announced the tribe\u2019s new 477 Director: William Martin. In this position, Martin is responsible for the overall operation and management of the Tribe\u2019s 477 programs which include Child Care, Employment & Training, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation. <\/p>\n
\u201cProviding quality service to our tribal citizens is a priority of the Tribe,\u201d Martin said in a release. \u201cTo achieve this, one of my areas of focus for this coming year will be to establish professional development plans for all 477 staff to ensure the delivery of high quality case management and customer service.\u201d <\/p>\n
Martin brings more than 13 years of experience in public assistance service which includes work for the South Puget Intertribal Planning Agency – a consortium of five tribes, Skokomish Tribal Nation and State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies from the East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, North Carolina. <\/p>\n
Martin\u2019s Tlingit name is Keegan. He is the son of Juneau Delegate Harold Martin and Alaska Native Sisterhood Executive Committee member Jacqueline Martin. He is of the Eagle moiety, Chookaneid\u00ed clan, Naanaa H\u00edt (Upriver House). <\/p>\n
