A Delta Airlines jet en route from Tokyo to Portland made an emergency landing at Cold Bay, a tiny, isolated town on the Alaska Peninsula early Saturday. <\/p>\n
The emergency landing was first reported by Alaska Dispatch News.<\/p>\n
Delta Flight 68, a Boeing 767, had 210 passengers and a crew of 11, a Delta spokeswoman said.<\/p>\n
There were no injuries and a second aircraft was scheduled to fly to Cold Bay to carry the passengers and crew the rest of the distance to Portland.<\/p>\n
Cold Bay, which has a 10,000-foot runway (one of Alaska\u2019s longest) is an emergency landing strip for trans-Pacific flights using the Great Circle route between North America and Asia.<\/p>\n
In October, an American Airlines passenger jet en route from Shanghai to Chicago made an emergency landing at Cold Bay after suffering engine trouble.<\/p>\n
