Juneau Alaska Music Matters will host a fundraising concert at Northern LIght United Church on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. The concert will feature Kyle Farley-Robinson on piano and a performance by The Mendenhall Quartet, made up of four UAS students — Lindsay Clark (violin), Heidi O’Connor-Brook (violin), Ruth Hogle (cello), and Sophia Butler (viola) — who are working with music students throughout Juneau School District as part of UAS’ new masters of arts in teaching program. Also performing will be fourth and fifth grade students from Glacier Valley’s JAMM program, who will be performing as a chamber orchestra for the first time in a large venue.

JAMM is an El Sistema‐inspired program that uses the power of music to help children reach their fullest potential. JAMM serves nearly 600 students in three elementary schools in the Juneau School District under the direction of mentor and teacher Lorrie Heagy.

No tickets are required for Sunday’s concert, but tax-deductible donations will be accepted at the door for JAMM. A reception will follow the concert, which is scheduled to last about an hour.
