The Juneau-Douglas High School girls basketball team spread the ball around Thursday and beat Palmer 47-34 in its second game at the Lady Lynx Shootout Tournament at Dimond High School.<\/p>\n

Nine different players scored for JDHS to lead the Crimson Bears over the Palmer Moose. Juneau is competing in the \u201cMaroon\u201d bracket against those beaten in Wednesday\u2019s tournament-opening competitions, and faces Chugiak at 8:00 p.m. Friday. <\/p>\n

Juneau was led in scoring by freshman Alyxn Bohulano and junior Georgia Robinson with nine each, followed by sophomore Cassie Dzinich with eight. Seniors Tona Fogg and Kallen Hoover, along with freshman Erica Hurtte, added four apiece.<\/p>\n

Palmer was led in scoring by Schyler Goers with seven, Abrianna Busbey with six and Kiana Till with four.<\/p>\n

JDHS started slow offensively, putting up only six points in the first quarter and going up 6-5 on Palmer. The second quarter saw the Crimson Bears pick the pace up a bit, scoring 12 points to Palmer\u2019s eight, leading to a Juneau-Douglas halftime lead of 18-13.<\/p>\n

JDHS\u2019 defense didn\u2019t lag in the third, and built off their momentum to put up 15 points to Palmer\u2019s five, going into the fourth with a 15-point lead. In the final period of play, Palmer made an offensive push for 16 points, but couldn\u2019t slow down Juneau-Douglas, which put up 14 of its own leading to the final tally.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
