{"id":32940,"date":"2015-10-07T08:01:12","date_gmt":"2015-10-07T15:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/come-to-the-cabaret-set-for-oct-16\/"},"modified":"2015-10-07T08:01:12","modified_gmt":"2015-10-07T15:01:12","slug":"come-to-the-cabaret-set-for-oct-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/life\/come-to-the-cabaret-set-for-oct-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Come to the Cabaret! set for Oct. 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Popular jazz pianist, teacher and raconteur Barney McClure will return to Juneau to lead local singers in an evening of cabaret Friday, Oct. 16 at the JACC at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The cabaret performance concludes a five-day workshop in which local singers are taught the fundamentals of cabaret, including choosing the right material, song interpretation, microphone technique and stage presence.<\/p>\n<p>Originally from Port Townsend, McClure has performed with many of the jazz greats in a career that has taken him across Europe, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Canada, the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Come to the Cabaret! is a benefit for the 30th annual Juneau Jazz &amp; Classics Festival May 6-21.
