The Juneau Icefield Research Program will discuss recent developments in the scientific exploration of the icefield during a Friday fireside lecture at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.<\/p>\n
According to the Forest Service, the featured speakers will be program executive director Erin Whitney and program coordinator Mary Gianotti. They will present a history of the educational program, discuss recent developments, and outline the future of the annual, eight-week student expedition that traverses the icefield from Juneau to Atlin, British Columbia.<\/p>\n
Fireside lectures take place every Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. Doors open at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
Visitors should note that the visitor center’s elevator is closed this winter for replacement.<\/p>\n
