JUNEAU \u2014 Alaska Democrats are calling for changes to the Democratic National Committee\u2019s delegate selection process.<\/p>\n
The rub with the current setup has to do with unpledged, \u201csuperdelegates,\u201d who can support whomever they choose at the national convention.<\/p>\n
A resolution passed by Alaska Democrats at their recent state convention urges the Democratic National Committee to either eliminate unpledged delegates or to direct them to vote in the same proportion as their states voted in caucuses and primaries. It also requests that Alaska\u2019s current unpledged delegates vote in the same proportion as Alaskans voted in this year\u2019s caucuses and convention.<\/p>\n
Bernie Sanders won 13 of the delegates elected to the national convention and Hillary Clinton won three.<\/p>\n
The state also has four superdelegates. Sanders and Clinton have each garnered support from at least one superdelegate so far.<\/p>\n
