{"id":33615,"date":"2016-12-30T09:01:54","date_gmt":"2016-12-30T17:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/wildlife-wednesday-to-discuss-swallows-population-decline\/"},"modified":"2016-12-30T09:01:54","modified_gmt":"2016-12-30T17:01:54","slug":"wildlife-wednesday-to-discuss-swallows-population-decline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/life\/wildlife-wednesday-to-discuss-swallows-population-decline\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildlife Wednesday to discuss swallow&#8217;s population decline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next Wildlife Wednesday lecture will discuss the population decline of tree swallows.<\/p>\n<p>Brenda Wright, a naturalist and birder, will give a talk titled \u201cWhere have all the swallows gone?\u201d from 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the Mendenhall Valley Public Library.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTree swallows are common but overall population declined by 49% between 1966 and 2014, according to the North American Breeding Bird Survey,\u201d a poster for the event reads. \u201cThis is true in eastern Northern America, but what about Alaska?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wildlife Wednesday\u2019s are hosted by the Alaska Wildlife Alliance and are free and open to the public.
