The board announced that Koelsch won the mayor\u2019s seat with a total of 4,709 votes, about 58 percent of the 8,155 ballots cast. His opponent, Karen Crane, won 3,377 votes. There were 53 write-ins.<\/p>\n<p>The total voter turnout was 33.3 percent, meaning that a third of Juneau\u2019s registered voters cast a ballot in the special election. That number is up from October\u2019s municipal election, which also included a mayoral race.
