{"id":35679,"date":"2018-09-24T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-24T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/?p=35679"},"modified":"2018-09-24T06:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-09-24T14:00:00","slug":"firefighters-host-cadet-open-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/home\/firefighters-host-cadet-open-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Firefighters host cadet open house"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Capital City Fire\/Rescue will hold an open house from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday for high school students interested in participating in CCFR&rsquo;s cadet program.<\/p>\n<p>Cadets meet three times per month during the school year and learn how to operate firefighting equipment, including Air-Pak breathing gear, saws, hoses and tools.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Everything short of being in live fires,&rdquo; said firefighter Sam Russell, who is organizing the event.<\/p>\n<p>The open house will take place at the CCFR training center, 2601 Sherwood Lane.
