The monthly speaker series Wildlife Wednesdays starts today with a discussion of the role of Alaska State Wildlife Troopers in enforcing wildlife management law.<\/p>\n
Wildlife Trooper Matthew Dobson will give a talk at the University of Alaska Southeast’s Egan Lecture Hall over the role of troopers in wildlife management. The hourlong free talk starts at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n
Dobson’s talk kicks off the Wildlife Wednesday season. On the first Wednesday of every month from October to March, environmental nonprofit advocacy group Alaska Wildlife Alliance hosts Wildlife Wednesdays.<\/p>\n
This year’s slate of lectures includes presentations about skulls and bones (Nov. 7, Mary Wilson and Kathy Hocker); Carinvore conservation (Dec. 5, Cristina Eisenberg); National Science Foundation, U.S. Antarctic progress and Weddell seals (Jan. 2, Rachel Berngartt); Salmon-supported bears, seed dispersal and small mammals (Feb. 6, Yasaman Shakeri); and carnivore ecology in the sub-Arctic (March 6, Kaija Klauder).<\/p>\n
