People interested in keeping up-to-date project happenings on the Tongass National Forest can sign up for email lists. The U.S. Forest Service uses these lists to send out information, newsletters, notices and documents on Tongass projects that fall under the National Environmental Policy Act.

The email system gives users control over which lists they subscribe to and enables people to receive information on current and future projects they may be interested in.

NEPA requires that the USFS make information available to the public before decisions are made and before actions are taken. In a NEPA project, the Forest Service asks for and considers public input, and analyzes and discloses the environmental effects of projects and activities on National Forest System lands (i.e. trail construction, timber harvest, and fish and wildlife habitat enhancement).
