A Juneau woman is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly driving drunk and causing a four-car collision on Egan Drive on Wednesday, police say.

At about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Juneau Police Department received multiple phone calls from drivers who reported a multiple-car collision on Egan inbound near the McDonald’s. JPD and Capital City Fire/Rescue arrived to find three cars that had crashed together and one car, a Toyota Tundra, in the median.

JPD Officer Don Ward said on scene that the driver of the Tundra hit the back of a Subaru, the Subaru hit the car in front of it and that car hit the car in front of it.

“(The Tundra) ran into the very last car and slammed them all together,” Ward said.

The driver of the Tundra, 40-year-old Eliseth Del Carmen Harman, was arrested for driving under the influence, JPD Lt. Krag Campbell said Thursday. Harman was also charged with third-degree assault, Campbell said, for injuring someone with a dangerous instrument (a car in this case).

Campbell said one driver was treated for wrist and back pain. According to a JPD release Thursday, the driver was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation.

Third-degree assault is a class C felony, according to electronic court records. Driving under the influence is a class A misdemeanor. Harman’s breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.193 percent when she was taken to LCCC, the release states.

Police estimate the combined damage to the four cars was estimated at $16,000.

No injuries in a four-car crash on Egan inbound near the McNugget intersection, per @CCFR Capt.
