This Veterans Day marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the World War I, and multiple groups are holding their annual events in commemoration. <\/p>\n
Starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Taku Post 5559 is hosting a ceremony to honor those who have served. The event takes place at Centennial Hall, and doors open at 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
Coast Guard Rear Admiral Matthew T. Bell is delivering the main address Sunday, and the ceremony as a whole is expected to last 30-45 minutes. It is free and open to all. The VFW and American Legion alternate the role of hosting every year.<\/p>\n
The Southeast Alaska Native Veterans are hosting a lunch immediately after the ceremony at Centennial Hall. The lunch takes place at nearby Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall starting at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Everyone is welcome to attend.<\/p>\n
