A Thanksgiving drug deal gone wrong ended in a shooting Thursday, police say, and the shooter is still at large.<\/p>\n

Police on Friday identified the suspect in the shooting as 27-year-old Juneau man Micah Nelson. JPD released photos<\/a> of Nelson on Friday afternoon and asked the public for help in locating him. Nelson also has two felony warrants out for his arrest, for probation and parole violations, according to an updated JPD release.<\/p>\n

Nelson is likely armed, the release states, and police advised people to not approach Nelson if they see him but to call police instead. JPD’s business number is 586-0600.<\/p>\n

At about 11:51 a.m. Thursday, the Juneau Police Department got a call that there had been a shooting at a home in the 1000 block of Coogan Drive in the Lemon Creek area, according to a JPD release<\/a>. The victim, a 46-year-old Juneau resident, was shot in the shoulder. As of Thursday afternoon, the man was in stable condition at Bartlett Regional Hospital, the release stated.<\/p>\n

Nelson fled the scene Thursday, and police didn’t see or speak to the suspect at any point, Campbell said.<\/p>\n

Police said the shooting appeared to be an “isolated incident.” Through interviews with witnesses, police learned that the two men knew each other and the altercation was about the sale of narcotics.<\/p>\n

“We don’t believe there is any cause for alarm for the public,” Campbell told the Empire on Thursday via email, “due to the isolated nature of the victim and suspect knowing each other and it being over drugs sales.”<\/p>\n
