{"id":39738,"date":"2018-12-12T15:39:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T00:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/player-of-the-week-derek-mason\/"},"modified":"2018-12-12T15:39:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T00:39:00","slug":"player-of-the-week-derek-mason","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/home\/player-of-the-week-derek-mason\/","title":{"rendered":"Player of the Week: Derek Mason"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Derek Mason is the Juneau Empire player of the week.<\/p>\n<p>Mason, a senior at Thunder Mountain High School, won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/tmhs-wrestlers-resilient-at-region-v-tourney\/\" target=\"_blank\">Region V Wrestling Championships<\/a> 215-pound title on Saturday at TMHS.<\/p>\n<p>Mason won a 7-0 decision over teammate Jake Ferster to become the region champ, and qualified for the state tournament this weekend in Anchorage.
