In statewide news, Fairbanks Mayor Bill Walley was running for governor against incumbent Gov. Bill Sheffield. He boosted his campaign on Alaska\u2019s economy, saying that Alaska deserves a \u201cbalanced economy\u201d and that it can be achieved through supporting oil exploration and development in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. <\/p>\n
