Read the latest on the fire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/businesses-open-day-after-suspicious-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p><em>&mdash;-<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>No one was hurt in a downtown structure fire that witnesses say produced some sort of explosion.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, flames were visible through the doorway to a storage area underneath <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/new-owners-revamp-goals-gym-rename-it-the-gym\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Gym<\/a>, a gym on Glacier Avenue neighboring J&#038;J Deli-Mart and across the street from Harborview Elementary.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Before Capital City Fire\/Rescue arrived on the scene, the flames were kept at bay by Alaska Electric Light &#038; Power workers who were passing the area in their work truck that was equipped with fire extinguishers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-attachment in-story\"><a href='https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/16504610_web1_MVIMG_20190422_091131.jpg'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/16504610_web1_MVIMG_20190422_091131.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"The building that houses The Gym, J&amp;J Deli and more was the site of fire Monday, April 22, 2019. (Ben Hohenstatt | Juneau Empire)<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t<p>&ldquo;I just happened to be driving by, and we heard and felt a big pop and jumped out,&rdquo; said AELP lineman Evan Bixby. &ldquo;We put (the fire) out a couple of times, but it kept coming back. It blew the door off. There was some big combustion happening in there.&rdquo;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Shortly after firefighters knocked down the fire for good, CCFR Assistant Fire Chief Tod Chambers said the cause of the fire was unknown, and the fire marshal would be investigating the cause.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AimbHJof8hc\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>&ldquo;I can&rsquo;t say definitively what that (explosion) was,&rdquo; Chambers said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>Juneau Police Department is investigating the cause of the fire, and Sgt.
