• Adrianne Schwartz of the Juneau School District has won the 2019 Northwest Regional Director of the Year Award, the School Nutrition Association announced.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
The award recognizes the extraordinary contributions of school nutrition directors who manage effective school meal programs, providing healthy, appetizing meals to students.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Schwartz, along with five other regional director award winners, will be honored during a ceremony at the association’s 73rd Annual National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri in July.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
• Nicole Bowers, of Juneau, received her Child Development Associate credential, the Association for the Education of Young Children Southeast Alaska announced.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Bowers, who works at Aurora Lights Child Care Center as an infant toddler teacher, is the first teacher to receive this credential through a partnership with Tlingit and Haida Child Care Assistance program, AEYC-SEA and the Association of Alaska School Boards STEPS Grant.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
• Alaska West Express received the 2018 Alaska Safe Truck Fleet of the Year Award from the Alaska Trucking Association at its annual meeting in April, according to a press release.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
The carrier was recognized for its safety performance in 2018, including accident frequency rates, compliance, safety and accountability scores, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable injuries.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
