{"id":48029,"date":"2019-05-16T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-16T17:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/former-juneau-pitcher-continues-to-shine-for-minnesota-college\/"},"modified":"2019-05-16T13:45:41","modified_gmt":"2019-05-16T21:45:41","slug":"former-juneau-pitcher-continues-to-shine-for-minnesota-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/former-juneau-pitcher-continues-to-shine-for-minnesota-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Juneau pitcher continues to shine for Minnesota college"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Thunder Mountain High School pitcher Philip Wall wrapped up another successful season on the mound for the University of Northwestern-St. Paul.<\/p>\n<p><ins>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/juneau-repeats-as-legion-state-champs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Juneau repeats as Legion state champs<\/a>]<\/ins><\/p>\n<p>Wall, whose Eagles suffered a season-ending loss last Friday to University of Wisconsin-Superior in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament, was named to both the UMAC All-Conference and National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) North Central All-Region teams at the beginning of the week.<\/p>\n<p><ins>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/former-juneau-teammates-off-to-hot-college-starts\/\" target=\"_blank\">Former Juneau teammates off to hot college starts<\/a>]<\/ins><\/p>\n<p>This season, Wall was the strongest pitcher for UNW, posting team-best marks in ERA (2.80), innings pitched (64.1) while tying for first on the team for wins (five) and complete games (two).<\/p>\n<p>The sophomore allowed just one earned run over 7.1 innings and struck out three batters in UNW&rsquo;s only UMAC Tournament win, a 6-2 victory over St. Scholastica last Friday.
