The Juneau Major Softball All-Star team lost twice to Sitka in three days at the Alaska District 2 Little League Tournament, which ended on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Juneau team lost in the championship game to Sitka 6-4 on Sunday following a nail-biting 4-3 extra innings loss two nights earlier, ending the tournament with a 2-3 record.<\/p>\n
“I thought on the whole they were a very solid team and they did an excellent job,” Juneau coach Mike Lovejoy said of his team. “It was a really fun tournament, all the teams were really evenly matched.” <\/p>\n
Juneau picked up wins against Sitka during against round robin play and against Ketchikan in the double elimination tournament. Juneau defeated Sitka 7-4 on Wednesday, and Ketchikan 8-5 on Saturday. In total, Juneau played five games in seven days.<\/p>\n
“It was a lot softball to play,” Lovejoy said.<\/p>\n
Juneau’s Mila Hargrave pitched the majority of the games, with Jack Lovejoy and Cambry Lockhart chipping in here and there.<\/p>\n
Coming up next<\/strong><\/p>\n The Juneau Minors and Majors Softball All-Stars are both in action this week.<\/p>\n The former will play in the Alaska District 2 Little League Special Games against Ketchikan starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night and continuing Wednesday and Thursday at the same time. There will be “if necessary” matches schedule for Friday and Saturday at 6:30 and 3 p.m., respectively, with a skills competition at 9 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
