There are two runs this weekend supporting local cross country running teams.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaat.at Kalé and Thunder Mountain High School cross country teams will host a community 5K at 10 a.m. at Sandy Beach. Both teams, plus Ketchikan and Metlakatla, will run in high school girls and boys races at 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively. An acknowledgement of Tlingit ancestral land will begin activities at 9:45 a.m.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, the Downtown Business Association is hosting a 1.8-mile fun run at 10 a.m. downtown. Dubbed the DBA Color Run, the run supports the DBA and JDHS cross country team. Pre-run registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Sealaska Heritage Institute parking lot, where the race begins.<\/p>\n
The race is free for children under 10, $15 for kids aged 10 to 17 and $20 for 18 and older. The first 100 participants to register will receive a free white race T-shirt to color with the supplied colored cornstarch. The powder washes out in most cases but on some fabrics may not wash out entirely. Register online at downtownjuneau.org\/event\/color-run.<\/p>\n
