{"id":53189,"date":"2019-09-17T21:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-09-18T05:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/new-look-mining-building-gets-a-ribbon-cutting\/"},"modified":"2019-09-17T21:30:00","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T05:30:00","slug":"new-look-mining-building-gets-a-ribbon-cutting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/new-look-mining-building-gets-a-ribbon-cutting\/","title":{"rendered":"New-look mining building gets a ribbon cutting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An old building is getting a new lease on life.<\/p>\n<p>The Treadwell Historic Preservation &#38; Restoration society will hold a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Sunday for the Treadwell Mine Office Building.<\/p>\n<p>The building, which was constructed in 1914, <a href=\"http:\/\/treadwellsociety.com\/pdf\/Office%20Bldg%20Historic%20Resources%20Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to the preservation society<\/a>, is located within the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the few foundations that still exist at the site of the Treadwell mine complex, which from 1882 to 1922 yielded nearly $70 million &mdash; in 1914 dollars &mdash; of gold, according to the preservation society.<\/p>\n<p>The trail, which includes signage noting the area&rsquo;s mining history, is managed by the City and Borough of Juneau Parks &#38; Recreation Department.<\/p>\n<p>The ribbon cutting is the culmination of a multi-year effort to rehabilitate the office building.<\/p>\n<p>The most recently added features are interpretive panels inside the building, and picnic tables located inside and outside the building.<\/p>\n<p>Past work included painting, a roof replacement and new flooring among other remodeling work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Celebration of rehabbed structure set for Sunday. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":106,"featured_media":53190,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_stopmodifiedupdate":false,"_modified_date":"","wds_primary_category":9,"footnotes":""},"categories":[9,4],"tags":[630,75],"yst_prominent_words":[],"class_list":["post-53189","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-news","tag-local-history","tag-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/53189","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/106"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=53189"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/53189\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/53190"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=53189"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=53189"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=53189"},{"taxonomy":"yst_prominent_words","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/yst_prominent_words?post=53189"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
