Summary: <\/strong>The United Way of Southeast Alaska works with social service organizations across the city and urges people to get involved.<\/p>\n A member of the audience tells the room how United Way volunteers were able to help with landscaping at the elder home where she works.<\/p>\n 12:50 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n Warren Russell, chair of the Board of Directors for United Way of Southeast Alaska, urges the audience to get involved in any number of ways. Donations, volunteering or inviting UW representatives into their workplace to give co-workers an idea of what the organization does.<\/p>\n 12:45 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n Stevens says that he is deeply troubled by the amount of children living with food insecurity in Juneau and the U.S.<\/p>\n “It bothers me,” he says. “But we’re going to figure it out.”<\/p>\n Another area United Way focuses on is food security, or being sure that a person has enough food to eat each day.<\/p>\n
