Juneau Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Egan Drive Wednesday evening.

According to a release from JPD, the collision occurred at about 5:02 p.m. at the Fred Meyer intersection.

Police said that a 2000 Nissan Maxima driven by 46-year-old Marlene Bonhome was trying to make a left turn across the outbound portion of Egan Drive in front of Fred Meyer. The other vehicle, a 1998 Subaru Legacy driven by 33-year-old unnamed Juneau resident struck the Nissan when the car turned in front of it.

Both drivers, as well as a passenger in the Subaru, were transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment.

BRH spokesperson Kathryn Bausler said in an interview at noon Thursday that the patients arrived at the hospital at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday. Bausler said that two women, ages 45 and 35, were under observation at the Medical Surgical unit. A third woman, age 21, was considered in critical condition upon her arrival but being transferred to the Medical Surgical unit.

None of the patients had been discharged as of Thursday afternoon.

Portions of Egan Drive were closed for two hours, JPD said, as officers investigated the crash and crews removed the cars from the area.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash, according to JPD. Alcohol was not considered to be a factor and a citation was issued to Bonhome for causing the crash.
