Random Acts filmmakers to visit Juneau<\/p>\n

The Juneau Police Department is hosting a celebration of its 2017 Year of Kindness<\/a> with a visit from the international nonprofit Random Acts on Sept. 1.<\/p>\n

JPD has partnered with Random Acts, a nonprofit organization aiming to conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time, as a partner for the 2017 Year of Kindness, said JPD Lt. Kris Sell in a press release.<\/p>\n

“You might have noticed the Girl Scouts handing out Random Acts buttons at the July 4th parade,” Sell said. “Random Acts is sending two members of that organization to Juneau the last week of August to shoot video about 17YOK.”<\/p>\n

The public is invited to a celebration of the initiative, and to talk to the filmmakers from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the log cabin shelter at Sandy Beach.<\/p>\n

“The filmmakers would like to hear from people who participated in daily acts of kindness, kindness weeks, or who learned something about themselves during this initiative,” Sell said. “Juneau has led the way<\/a> with the only entire town kindness initiative found anywhere. Maybe Juneau can inspire other communities to similar years of kindness.”<\/p>\n

According to Sell, there will be marshmallows to roast and they will have a fire going to burn up those negative thoughts or old hurts people have decided to give up to make room for kindness.<\/p>\n
