JAHC: “Bloom” Ceramics by Mercedes Munoz<\/strong>, Juneau Arts & Culture Center, 350 Whittier St, 4:30-7 p.m.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

This new body of work by Mercedes Munoz titled “Bloom” is a collection of hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramic vessels, adorned with etched drawings of Alaskan plant life, blue glazed bubbles and gold details. Inspired by the end of long, dark days and the beginning of growth and light, each piece is functionally and visually inspired by the upcoming season of bloom.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

The Davis Gallery: Jensen-Olson Arboretum Photography and Membership Drive, Sponsored by the New JACC, <\/strong>Centennial Hall, 101 Egan Drive, 4:30-7 p.m. The folks from the Jensen-Olsen Arboretum will be hosting a Membership drive, while displaying a selection of curated photos of garden grounds.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Alaska State Library, Archives, and Museum: Opening of Rarefied Light<\/strong> (Museum) and Women of Alaska (Archives\/Library)<\/strong>, 395 Whittier St, 4:30-7 p.m. The Alaska State Museum opens Rarefied Light, a statewide juried photography exhibit organized by The Alaska Photographic Center. The Alaska State Archives and Library Historical Collections unveil a new display on the second floor featuring women’s photos, stories, and documents from the collections. The opening reception is sponsored by the Friends of the Alaska State Library, Archives, and Museum.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Coppa: Maddie Kombrink<\/strong>, 917 Glacier Ave. 4-6 p.m. Maddie Kombrink will feature charcoal portraits of dogs and local wildlife, showcasing her custom pet portraits and wildlife illustrations.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Juneau-Douglas City Museum: 16th Annual 12×12 Community Art Exhibit<\/strong>, 114 W. 4th St. 4:30-7 p.m. Each year the City Museum hosts a thematic community art exhibit in which artists of all ages are encouraged to create works within the parameters of a 12-inch square or a cube. This year’s theme was adventure.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Annie Kaill’s: Hollis Kitchin, Artist<\/strong>,124 Seward St., 4:30-7 p.m. Annie Kaill’s will feature Juneau artist Hollis Kitchin. Her exhibit “Seasons of Juneau” is a collection of paintings including foggy mountains, playful illustrations, and capturing feelings of specific seasons of the year.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Rainforest Yoga: First Friday Yoga with Theresa Soley<\/strong>, 171 Shack Way, Suite 202B, 5:15-6:15 p.m.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Theresa Soley will offer a free class on Friday. The yoga practice will be designed for beginners, and include hip openers, shoulder strengthening and core power. Please join us for a balanced practice, and stay for the annual meeting thereafter, all at Rainforest Yoga studio.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Barnaby Brewing: Emily Luminescence, Painter<\/strong>, 165 Shattuck Way, 4:30-8 p.m. Emily Luminescence shares new acrylic works to shine through the dark of winter to the light of spring.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Devil’s Club Brewing Co.: Jacqui Tingey<\/strong>, 4-8 p.m., 100 N. Franklin St. Jacqui Tingey is a self-taught artist based in Juneau, where she enjoys spending time outdoors and drawing inspiration from the impressive surroundings found here. “Totally Tubercle” focuses on humpback whales using mostly Bic pens, acrylic, gouache and watercolors.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Triangle Club: Sip and Sucked Oysters, <\/strong>251 Front St., 4-6:30 p.m. The Triangle will celebrate First Friday with oysters shooters on the half shell. Hump Island Oysters will be shipping fresh oysters. Alaskan Brewing will have a tasting of the beer of the month.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Wolfsong Wellness Boutique: Mary Szczepanski, MS, RN for a book signing, <\/strong>175 S. Franklin St., 4:30-7 p.m. Wolfsong Wellness Boutique will host a book signing for Mary Szczepanski, and her three books related to energy healing. The most recent book, Energy Healing: Reflections on a Journey is non-fiction; the others are fiction. Her energy healing book will also be available at the store indefinitely.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Alaskan Brewing Company Depot: Alaskan Brewing Company Beer Samples<\/strong>, 219 S. Franklin St., 4:30-7 p.m. They will be pouring samples of beer and have some light snacks available. There will also be a large selection of items on sale. These items will be marked down to 40% off! We will also provide a 15% discount on all other merchandise.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Kindred Post: March First Friday at KP: Local Threads Collection Launch<\/strong>, 145 S. Things are kicking it off with art from two of our Juneau favorites, Em Lang and Dave Lang.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Alaskan Hotel and Bar: Taking Care of Bluegrass, <\/strong>9:30 p.m., 167 S. Franklin St. This event will feature barroom Bluegrass, with Jeremy Kane-banjo\/vocal, Andrew Heist-mandolin\/vocals, Josh Fortenbery-guitar\/vocals, Lindsay Clark-fiddle, and James Cheng-bass.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Juneau Artists Gallery: Greg Roth, Jewelry Artist<\/strong>, 175 S. Franklin St. 5:30-8 p.m.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t

Metal Artist, Greg Roth, will be the featured artist for March at the Juneau Artists Gallery. Roth adds a unique touch to his jewelry making by adding upcycled creations made with silver, gold, brass, copper and niobium. His bullet earrings made from used bullet casings are adorned with Swarovski crystal have been a real attention-getter. Come meet the artist at 4:30-7 p.m. on the ground floor of the Senate Building. Treats will be provided.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
