The Juneau Community Foundation thanks the Avista Corporation for a recent donation of $20,000. The Avista Corporation, parent company of AEL&P, focuses their community philanthropy on education, vulnerable and limited-income citizens, and economic and cultural vitality. The donated funds will be used as part of the Juneau Community Foundation’s 2017 Juneau Hope Endowment grant program. Through a competitive grant process, these funds will support local non-profits that address social service needs in these areas: mental health, suicide prevention, substance abuse, homelessness, victims of violence and hospice.

We also wish to thank Avista’s Jessie Wuerst who recently attended several community meetings convened and facilitated by the Juneau Community Foundation. These “listen and learn sessions” helped establish funding priorities amongst the stakeholders. Jessie was able to see firsthand that their donation would be thoughtfully invested in the community.

We greatly appreciate Avista’s philanthropic support in our hometown.
