This months First Friday celebration of art will feature a blend of virtual and in-person events.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
Other communities, including Homer and Haines, will be joining in on the monthly event, too.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
JAHC: Juneau Community Cookbook, <\/strong>virtual event, https:\/\/www.jahc.org\/jacc\/arts-council-gallery\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t Participants submitted a favorite recipe that hold a special place in their heart.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t This cookbook allows people to check out what your neighbors are cooking and try a new recipe this week!<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t Exhibit up through the month.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t New items are listed on JAHC Shop, too, at www.juneauartsandhumanitiescouncil.org <\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t Alaska State Library, Archives and Museum: “Alaska’s Suffrage Star: The History of Women’s Suffrage in Alaska,” <\/strong>4:30 p.m. virtual event, https:\/\/lam.alaska.gov\/suffrage-star<\/a> and www.facebook.com\/AKStateLibrary<\/a>. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t “Alaska’s Suffrage Star,” an online exhibit by the Alaska State Museum, shares the history of women’s suffrage in Alaska, explaining how local and national activism helped Alaska women citizens achieve the vote in 1913. The first bill ever passed by the Alaska Territorial Legislature granted voting rights to women, but only in 1924 did Alaska Native women become eligible voters, when the federal government granted U.S. citizenship to Native Americans. Museum Services Curator Anjuli Grantham will share some of the stories behind the exhibit on the Alaska State Library and Historical Collections.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t First Friday only.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t
