{"id":61382,"date":"2020-06-23T09:45:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T17:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/state-reports-new-covid-19-cases\/"},"modified":"2020-06-23T13:48:54","modified_gmt":"2020-06-23T21:48:54","slug":"state-reports-new-covid-19-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/state-reports-new-covid-19-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"State reports new COVID-19 cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state reported Tuesday 35 new cases of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus-response-alaska-dhss.hub.arcgis.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alaska Department of Health and Social Services<\/a> reported 16 new cases involving Alaskans and 19 new cases involving nonresidents. The majority of nonresident cases &mdash; 12 &mdash; are seafood industry workers in the Dillingham Census Area.<\/p>\n<p>The reported cases also include two seafood industry workers in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough, two seafood industry workers in the Valdez-Cordova Census Area, two workers in the mining industry in the Fairbanks North Star Borough and a visitor to Anchorage,<a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus-response-alaska-dhss.hub.arcgis.com\/datasets\/covid-cases-out-of-state\/data?orderBy=ReportDate&#038;orderByAsc=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> according to DHSS. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>No new cases were reported for the Juneau area. One new case was reported for Southeast Alaska.<\/p>\n<p>An email to DHSS seeking clarification on the location was not immediately returned.<\/p>\n<p>The new cases bring the state&rsquo;s cumulative count to 778 and active case count to 264.<\/p>\n<p>Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, breathing trouble, sore throat, muscle pain, and loss of taste or smell. Most people develop only mild symptoms.
